Adam is Plains Cree from Treaty Six Territory, Adam has never cut his hair, he wears his hair in a long braid as a way for his family to honor the Residential School survivors in their family; the strength and the resilience of those survivors is what pushed Adam & his Mom Azure to encourage others to find strength in their Indigenous identities. It honors the strength they have in their way of life and traditions. The meaning of the braid can mean many different things to others. Every day you braid your hair can bring a new meaning.
Seriously Graphic is honored to partnered with Adam’s Braid Story to help them spread awareness through custom apparel and more. All designs are approved by Adam!
We share our messages of strength of support, and we must also share the stories that hurt. Our message to the little boys who cut their hair because someone made fun of you; we love you! You are strong and there are a ton of people who support you. We hope you will read this one day. ~ Azure
